MEET PASTOR STEVE BURMAN |
 |

Steve
Burman officially became pastor of Faith Baptist Church on December 19,
1989 and preached his first sermon as pastor on February 25, 1990.
He was ordained to the Gospel ministry on April 10, 1968 by Brook Hollow
Baptist Church of DeSoto, Texas.
Pastor
Burman received his education at Tennessee Temple Bible School in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Bible
degree. It was there that he met his wife, the former Marcy Webb.
They were married in Dallas, Texas on July 31,1964. Marcy also graduated from Tennessee Temple college with a bachelor of
Arts degree and taught kindergarten through second grade for more than
ten years. Pastor Steve and Marcy have three children: Bradley, Renee
and Douglas as well as five grandchildren.
After
graduation, Steve and Marcy moved to Dallas, Texas where he became an
assistant pastor at the Brook Hollow Baptist Church. He ministered in
that capacity for a total of eleven years. In 1974, the Burman family
moved to Steve's home state of Washington where he founded the Temple
Baptist Church in Lacey. Under his leadership the church built a new
facility on eight acres and established the Temple Christian School,
grades k-12.
Pastor
Steve has a passion for world-wide missions and has conveyed his vision
to the Faith Baptist Family. Upon his arrival in 1990, the church
supported seven missionaries with a budget under 10,000 dollars. The
church now supports approximately forty-five missionaries and the
mission budget has averaged over 115,000 dollars per year for the past
several years. The church has sent the pastoral staff and their wives
to visit nineteen missionaries in fifteen countries. The missionary
endeavor has been a source of great joy for the family at Faith for the
opportunity that has been given to express love and appreciation for
God's unspeakable gift - our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pastor
Steve has been a chaplain for the Grants Pass Department of Public
Safety since August 1997. He has great respect and admiration for those
who put their life on the line for the well being of their community.
Steve
and Marcy enjoy travelling and have had the opportunity to visit 17
countries including two trips to Israel. Steve loves to take his
grandchildren up to a high mountain lake for a day of trout fishing and
Marcy loves to go along if it's warm. He also loves hunting, white
water rafting and just being in the great Oregon outdoors. They both
enjoy reading. Steve has a passion for music. Marcy delights in
waiting on her children and grandchildren. Pastor Steve and Marcy feel
blessed that they have been able to serve the Lord Jesus
Christ together. |
